Have you ever looked back to a few years and thought damn that dress looked good? Well that’s my thought exactly. There are certain outfits which create a significant memory like a wedding dress, graduation or any other special occasion. There’s a certain sentiment that we all hold dearly to us.  It’s called nostalgia. I have a collage of pictures that bring back memories of a significant time at a point in my life.

So look no further, I could not start the process without taking it all the way back…

 

1991

I was almost a year old in this photo, therefore I don’t remember shit about this. However this is one of the first dresses that my mother had dressed me in. There’s something very regal about this picture… I am the centre of attention of course!

1996

It’s really not about the dress, but all about the accessories! From the flower broach, to my love Disney characters (that was Pocahontas in which I had traded for another character), along with my half stud-half hoop earring style… everything was on point.  I lost one side of my earring so I decided to be creative and fill my earlobes with a stud. Plus I was no longer in kindergarden so I felt like a boss.

 

2014

Graduation is a big deal for a lot of reasons. For me, the program had taken a huge toll on my  stress level… post secondary school has a tendency to do this. It’s not only crunch time with exams, projects or anything on else within this time period in which honestly gave me anxiety… it was being unaware of where I was going in life. Taking Journalism taught me a few things, but the biggest gain from the program was of course the belief in my writing along with my resilience. So this was a day for celebration and this dress was giving mermaid vibes. Speaking up for yourself always pays off.
